JAI also recommended that Tonga should work towards gender parity in decision-making and development planning relating to disaster risk reduction and climate change. According to JAI, Tonga can do this by adopting targeted policies, strengthening national institutions concerned with gender-related issues, and providing adequate resources to developing women’s leadership capacity.
