CEDAW recommended that Botswana, inter alia, amend the Domestic Violence Act to bring it into line with the CEDAW and the Committee’s general recommendations, develop a law on gender-based violence, establish State-owned shelters for victims and strengthen existing shelters run by non-governmental organizations.
