Para 49) JS1 stated that there was no public health care support of transgender persons to medically transition and that Botswana did not offer gender reassignment surgery. Whilst government facilities did have medication for hormonal therapy, it was often prescribed at the discretion of the medical staff.

Para 64) JS1 stated that although the High Court had ordered the Government to allow transgender persons to change their gender marker, transgender persons were still required to obtain a court order to effect this change in their documentation, and called for this process to be simplified.
