Recommendation
The Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents recommended that, in accordance with the request of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, Luxembourg should withdraw its reservations to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, regardless of the outcome of the legislative reforms currently under way, since the reservations were not compatible with the rights of the child or with the best interests of the child. The Ombudsman pointed out that the groups specifically affected by these reservations were children born outside the framework of civil marriage or the so-called “traditional” family (i.e., a married mother and father who have a biological child). The Luxembourg Committee for UNICEF (UNICEFLuxembourg) made a similar recommendation. [Para 23]
