Regarding the criminalization of abortion in Burundi, JS13 recommended reviewing the relevant punitive provisions in the Penal Code, expanding the criteria for allowing abortion in specific circumstances, including rape and incest, and developing a policy on safe abortion in health-care facilities in those specific cases.
