Recommendation
The HR Committee regretted the persistence of polygamy in Bahrain, regulated in the Family Code of 2017. It recommended that Bahrain strengthen its efforts to prevent and eradicate harmful practices discriminating against women and girls. In particular, it emphasized that Bahrain should take adequate measures to reduce the incidence of polygamy and to bring about its abolition. [Para 37]
