SLPPA stated that the Health and Family Life Education curriculum did not effectively provide the education, information, tools and skills for young people to navigate their sexuality. SLPPA noted that though the data for 2016 of the Adolescent Fertility Rate in Saint Lucia recorded a miniscule decrease from the previous number for December 2015, the rate of births for women aged 15-19 was still extremely high.
