CEDAW expressed concern that the maternal mortality rate remained high and recommended that Rwanda continue with efforts to reduce that rate, including by improving the quality, availability and accessibility of medical assistance, decriminalizing abortion and removing the cumbersome requirements for access to legal abortion.
