JAI noted that remote outer islands of the country lacked hospitals and authorities to register the births of children; individual states maintained birth records and there was no unified national birth registration requirement or system. JAI recommended that the Federated States of Micronesia increase access to birth registration in remote outer islands and standardize the country’s identity documentation system. [Para 29]
