Recommendation
UNFPA commended Bangladesh on its commitment to the enjoyment of human rights and acknowledged that Bangladesh introduced a number of laws, policies and national action plans to combat gender-based violence, however, the prevalence of violence against women/gender-based violence is still alarming. It urged Bangladesh to further harmonize laws and policies with international human rights and was concerned that access to legal redress in the case of gender-based violence, especially rape, is limited and a culture of impunity is visibly. UNFPA pledged its ongoing support towards the harmonization of policies and programmes across all levels. UNFPA Bangladesh was pleased that the Government accepted several universal periodic review recommendations on gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health and rights on which UNFPA is committed to providing support in different areas.
