JS4 recommends the immediate application of the protection measures adopted in the Criminal Code now due to enter into force in 2014; the establishment of a State security plan on domestic violence, which should provide for hostels for victims nationwide; and the adoption of adequately funded, comprehensive legislation that will not only punish but also prevent and eradicate domestic violence. The Ombudsman’s Office highlights the need for a new comprehensive law on violence against women. [Para 19]
