The CRC was concerned that adolescents who became pregnant as a result of sexual violence had limited options and often resorted to unsafe abortions, resulting in their death. It urged the United Republic of Tanzania to reduce maternal deaths relating to teenage abortions and ensure by law and in practice that the views of the child are always listened to and respected in abortion decisions. UNCT stated that a lack of adequate interpretation of the law and policy relating to safe abortions resulted in poor access to quality abortion care. [Para 60]
