The Ministry of Home Affairs, with assistance from UNDP, NZAID and other partners, also conducted workshops in the outer islands on local elected leadership as well as strengthening local governance. In 2010, the Ministry of Home Affairs hosted the Island Leaders Assembly (TILA), a meeting for traditional leaders. This resulted in increased support for the development of specific legislation and policies on the issues of gender discrimination in the Falekaupule and Kaupule administration. [Para 97]
