[Several stakeholders] recommended taking legislative steps to provide protection against discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity, in conformity with international standards; repealing legislation that can be interpreted as criminalizing consensual same-sex relations; ensuring accountability for crimes perpetrated on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity; bringing the Sexual Offences Act 2021 in line with international standards, and providing mechanisms for redress for LGBTIQ+ victims of hate crimes.
