Recommendation
The comprehensive and holistic National Plan of Action for Children, 2005 set time-bound targets for achievement in terms of reduction of infant and child mortality and HIV prevalence in infants ... and the elimination of child marriages ... The Pre- Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act, 1994 has been amended in 2003 to provide for the prohibition of sex selection, before or after conception, and more stringent enforcement. A Bill has been tabled for amending the Prevention of Child Marriage Act. It includes a salutary provision for declaration of a child marriage as void at the option of the child who contracted such marriage. [Para 68]
